Here are the answers to our most frequently asked questions about our tool kits, ordering and payment, delivery and returns, managing your subscription, sustainability and how we give back.

All about our tool kits

What is a 'Tool Kit For Eco Heroes'?

Our Tool Kits For Eco Heroes are activity kits with a difference...

Available as either a flexible subscription or as stand alone kits, they are full of fun and exciting activities to inspire children to love and care for our environment.

We want your children to enjoy the activities and their experiences be easy for you too. By including an easy crib sheet in each box, we hope to empower parents to start conversations with their children about specific environmental concerns.

Our aim is to make it easy for parents to include their children on the journey to greener living.

Do I have to subscribe?

No, our tool kits are available as a flexible subscription or as stand-alone activity boxes.

Take a look at the different themes available in our shop and choose your favourite.

This is a great way to trial our kits before you commit to a subscription, they also make lovely (plastic free) pressies!

What age are your tool kits aimed at?

Our tool kits are designed for children aged 5+ but work best when families explore and learn from them together.

Some of the content is quite text heavy - we want to make sure we’re giving you enough background to the topics that we are covering - so younger children may need a little help to read and understand.

All the activities are designed for children and have easy instructions, but many will need some adult supervision particularly for the youngest children.

Any activities that require a grown up to help out because extra care is needed, are marked with a warning symbol. ⚠︎

Are all the tool kits the same?

Each of our tool kits are themed around a specific environmental issue or an endangered animal. All of the activities inside relate back to that theme in some way, to gently help children understand what’s going on in the world in an imaginative and fun way.

We have 22 different themes available to purchase either as stand alone kits or as part of a subscription.

If you purchase a subscription, you have the option to select the kits that your child would like to receive. Please note that you can’t specify the order in which the kits will arrive.

What do you get inside?

Our tool kits are activity kits with a difference.

They contain many hours of activities, facts, news and information to help your little eco hero gently understand the theme.

There are a minimum of four ‘big’ activities inside each Tool Kits (past activities have included building a bee hotel, making recycled paper and creating a recycled wind chime).

There’s a recipe card inside every kit that’s relevant to the theme, for example using up squashy bananas to make banana bread to understand the need to tackle food waste.

There’s an I Spy card to encourage children to get outside in nature, an Eco Hero card to learn about someone that’s made a real difference to our planet as well as a crib sheet for grown ups.

There’s also a big poster activity and much more.

Remember that the things you will need you already have at home, in the garden or in the recycling box!

What extra stuff will I need to buy?

One of the key ideas behind our tool kits is that we won’t bombard you with more ‘stuff’ each. So most of the activities use things that you can find around your home, in your garden or even in the recycling box.

We will send an email* to the person that purchased the subscription approximately 10 days before a new box is due to be delivered to give you an idea of the things you should save in your recycling or scavenge to find!

There are a few basics that will be needed each month, including scissors, glue, tape and colouring pencils.

*To receive the email you will need to remain on our mailing list.

Are your tool kits eco friendly?

Our tool kits are 100% sustainable and plastic free. Many of the tasks use materials already found in the home or even in the recycling box!

All of the contents of our tool kits are printed on 100% recycled paper or card and printed using vegan inks.

We use a local Brighton based printer, that source all of their materials from UK or EU suppliers. They are Woodland Carbon accredited and support the Woodland Trust.

The packaging we use is plastic-free, recyclable, biodegradable and made from sustainable materials.

We are also an approved member of The Good Market. You can read more about our sustainability policy here.

Are your tool kits suitable for schools?

Our Tool Kits provide a comprehensive, cost effective and easy solution for educators. They offer hours of activities, news and information that gently explains key issues and links to the National Curriculum.

Unlike many subscription boxes, our kits do not contain any individual ‘gifts’ and the information cards can be copied and shared across the establishment.

If you are interested in purchasing a subscription for your school, please get in touch with us.

Your subscription will renew on the same day of the month at each renewal - or change, if that date does not fall in the month. For example, if you purchase a monthly subscription on 31st August, it will renew on 30th September and then continue to renew on 30th of each month until February, when it will change to renew on 28th.

Yes, take a look at our shop and you can order one-off tool kits, just choose the theme that you like the look of.

Can I order as a gift?

If you are purchasing the subscription as a gift, please tick the box at checkout and leave a gift message. We will make sure that this is printed on a special card and included in the first tool kit sent out.

All subscriptions will auto renew but if you would prefer it not to auto renew, please log into your account and cancel your subscription. Rest assured, your recipient will receive all the boxes on the chosen plan and cancelling in this way WILL NOT cancel your purchase.

If you would like your gift subscription to start at a specific time. For example after Christmas, then just let us know during the checkout process.

Do you have gift cards to go with a tool kit?

You can also download a choice of gift cards here, that you can print and send on to the recipient to let them know that their Tool Kit is on the way.

We can still include a special gift card within their first Tool Kit with your message.

Sustainability

What sustainability practices do you have in place?

It’s Our Planet Too is committed to having a positive impact across all areas of our business.

We believe that businesses have a responsibility to act in ways that protect people and the environment from exploitation and degradation; that is why we have become a social venture and designed our business practices and policies to meet our own high ethical standards.d an answer here.

What is a social venture?

Social ventures are businesses that are changing the world for the better. Like traditional businesses they aim to make a profit but it’s what they do with their profits that sets them apart – reinvesting or donating them to create positive social change to people or planet.

We are proud to be a member of Social Enterprise UK.

Do you have a mission statement?

At It’s Our Planet Too, we’re on a mission to ignite a passion to protect our planet through play, encouraging small actions that make a big difference. By bringing the environment into our playtimes, we teach our children the value of their planet and equip them to become little eco heroes, who are empowered to protect our incredible world.

Our vision is for every child to believe that they have the power to protect our planet.

So... Are you perfect?

It is impossible to be 100% perfect, which is why we are trying to be as transparent as we can to allow our customers to make their own informed choices.

As a fledgling business, we are striving to make a difference – be it to spread a positive message about environmental change or to ‘give back’ to environmental charities.

However, in these early days some of our business decisions may leave us with less control over the supply chain than we would like. However, we commit to putting people and planet alongside profit when making key supply and manufacturing decisions.

What other 'good' things do you do?

We are committed to giving back, be it gently educating our littles ones (and their families) to make a positive change for a greener future, or supporting a charity that is very close to our hearts.

At It’s Our Planet Too we truly believe that if everyone was aware of the impact that their actions were having on the planet, they would take steps to change it. But we need to understand the impact that we are all having, so that considering the environment becomes a way of life and starts to dictate the choices that we all make.

Giving back

How do you give back?

As a social venture and a member of Social Enterprise UK, we have made a commitment to reinvest a minimum of 50% of our profits back into the business or to be distributed to good causes.

Be it gently educating our littles ones (and their families) to make a positive change for a greener future, by distributing our boxes to children who may not receive any environmental education… It feels good to do good.
