My Story

IOPT - My Story (Kate).jpg

Someone recently asked me when I first started to care about the environment and as I thought about it, I realised that there’s been a little touch of ‘eco’ running through my blood for as long as I can remember…

As a child of the eighties, I remember our primary school holding a mock election and being the only child to vote green, unable to understand why no ones else shared my eight year old’s idealistic view of saving the planet! 🌎

So the idea for It’s Our Planet Too came about many years ago, in a lifetime long before children, school pick-ups and playdates! Having studied Environmental Science at university, I had this idea for a website aimed at children about the environment, so I registered a few domain names, doodled a logo and forgot about it!

A few years went by and gone was the London commute and the busy job, to be replaced by a toddler, a baby and a completely new life as a parent. To keep my brain ticking over and inspired by the numerous children’s books I was reading every day, I started to write stories about endangered animals. I never intended to write in rhyme but these were the books that I and my children loved, so I decided to give it a go. Little did I know that these would form the basis of It’s Our Planet Too

My children are growing up in a world facing very real challenges. Their generation is starting to take notice of our impact on the environment. We need them to become eco-heroes who are empowered to make a difference. It’s Our Planet Too is about inspiring them to care…  It’s Eco Fun For Little People!

So after far too many years of paying for those domain names, the time really has come to make a difference…

Thank you for reading and for your support, it means the world.
